Calculate the Form 5558 dates

A timely and complete Form 5558 can generally extend a Form 5500 series filing to no later than the 15th day of the third month after the normal due date.

What the calculator is doing

It first calculates the ordinary Form 5500 due date—the last day of the seventh calendar month after the plan year ends. It then calculates the latest requested extension date as the 15th day of the third month after that normal due date.

Beginning in 2025, Form 5558 may be filed electronically through EFAST2 or on paper with the IRS. A separate Form 5558 is generally used for each plan.
