Trouble Shooting

Technical support is absolutely FREE within the first year from the date of purchase.  We have an excellent database of notes that explains previous problems and solutions, and we have software that can pinpoint and resolve problems quickly with no loss of data. Most technical support issue are printing related. A list of printing related issues is posted below. If you still can't resolve an issue, please call (800-350-8262) or e-mail us (support@lawfirmsoftware.com).  We have a friendly and courteous staff that has seen and resolved ALL technical support requests and can resolve your technical support issue as well.

Printing

1.  It prints black where it should print white or the printout is missing lines.  How can I make it print clearly?

I called Hewlett-Packard technical advice. They suggested if you are having problems printing, start backing up on the drivers. By that I mean use an earlier print driver. The base for almost all the newer HP machines is the HP 4 L driver. Install it and see if it clears up the problem. We have tested the software against all the HP 4, 5 and 1100 series as well as the 2 and the 1 and it works great.  If you are having problems installing a different print driver, just call or e-mail us and we can lead you through this.  It takes about 1-2 minutes to install an additional print driver.

If you don't have a Hewlett-Packard printer, you may try loading the Postscript driver. This is usually the magic driver that resolves almost any print related problem.

2.  The text interferes with the grid lines on the printout.

The solution to this is real easy.  Click Help, then click Change Print Options.  That box will let you shift text up or down so that it doesn't interfere with lines.

Screen

1.  The program is really big for the screen.  How can I make the program appear smaller?   Or, the text on the screen is not aligned with the edit boxes and it's impossible to view.  How can I make the program appear clearly on the screen?

There are two (2) possible solutions to the first problem.  You have to either adjust the screen area or the font size or both.  To adjust the screen area, do the following:

  • Click start.
  • Click settings.
  • Click control panel.
  • Double-click the display icon.
  • Click the settings tab (far right tab).
  • Change the screen area toward 'more'.  The program looks nice with 800 by 600 pixels and looks cramped with anything less.  More pixel space looks nice as well.
  • Click apply then click OK.

Sometimes the text on the screen is not aligned with the edit boxes and the program just doesn't look right. This can arise with the HUD RESPA software. To resolve this, you have to change the default font size.  To change this, do the following:

  • Click start.
  • Click settings.
  • Click control panel.
  • Double-Click the display icon.
  • Click the settings tab (far right tab).
  • Click the 'Advanced' button (located near screen area).  Make sure that 'Small Fonts' is selected with 96 dpi as opposed to 'Large Fonts' at 120 dpi which makes the program look funny.
  • Click OK.

If you are having problems, just call us and we can lead you through this.  Every effort is made to respond to technical support requests or general questions during the same business day.
