A proof of claim is a document filed by a creditor which shows how
much money is owed by the debtor. Creditors are required to attach
evidence of the claim and amounts owed.
On April 1, 2007, the
US Bankruptcy Courts
released a new version of the Proof of Claim form (Official Form
10). You must file this form to claim a share of the proceeds
generated from the sale of a bankrupt debtor's assets. A new Proof
of Claim form is proposed for December 1, 2007.
